VET Credit Transfer

VET credit transfer in the WACE refers to any nationally endorsed qualification or nationally recognised accredited course that is used by a student to contribute towards their WACE.

VET qualifications comprise of units of competency. Each unit of competency describes the required skills, and knowledge for work in an industry. The nominal hours for delivery of a unit of competency are prescribed by the Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD).

Information on Western Australian nominal hours for VET units of competency is available on the DTWD website: http://www.dtwd.wa.gov.au/wa-nominal-hours-guides.

Completion of VET may contribute as unit equivalence towards the WACE – see
How VET contributes towards the WACE for more details.

An accredited course is one that is developed to meet training needs not addressed by existing training packages. Courses and modules that are not part of a nationally endorsed training package do not automatically provide students with recognition towards the WACE. Click here for further details.
